Title; An Improved,Solvent,Extraction of Onion Oil
Title; An Improved,Solvent,Extraction of Onion Oil_ . ., ,. . Abstract approved: Darrell V. Beavers A simple process to obtain onion oil by direct solvent extrac- tion was proposed. Several solvents commonly utilized in the food industry were tested for their selectivity in the extraction of the oil of onion.
The direct solvent extraction method produced a yield of onion oil approximately seven times higher than the yield obtained by the steaim distillation method. A process of fermentation of the ground raw onions was used prior to the solvent extraction operation.

In particular, propane, n-butane or dimethyl ether (DME) as liquified solvents have been extensively investigated for the extraction of fats and oils, antioxidants and aromas. 38–48 Zanqui et al. 49 proposed n-propane as a solvent for the extraction of chia (Salvia hispanica L.) oil, resulting in a good extraction yield (28.16%) similar to
Direct Calophyllum oil extraction and resin separation
This study investigated the use of a mixture of n-hexane and methanol as a binary solvent for the direct oil extraction and resin separation from Calophyllum seeds, in a single step. Optimal oil and resin yields and physicochemical properties were determined by identifying the best extraction conditions. The solvent mixture tested extracted oil and resin effectively from Calophyllum seeds, and
A process is disclosed for extracting hydrophobic compounds from substantially fat-, oil-, and wax-free substance mixtures by using at least one non-polar extraction solvent in conjunction with at least one water-soluble organic solvent wherein the extraction solvent containing the hydrophobic compound can be recovered as the upper phase in a phase separation.

Onion
The onion (Allium cepa L., from Latin cepa "onion"), also known as the bulb onion or common onion, is a vegetable that is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium. The shallot is a botanical variety of the onion.Until 2010, the shallot was classified as a separate species. Its close relatives include the garlic, scallion, leek, chive, and Chinese onion.
The saponification value of oil and biodiesel were estimated by the ASTM D1962 titration method. The fat sample of 1 . g was taken in the beaker and dissolved in 10 mL of ethanol solvent.. Further, 25 mL of ethanolic 0.5 normality of KOH was quantitatively transferred to the fat-solvent mixture and named as a test sample. The same procedure was followed to prepare the blank sample without the
